Elite™ Professional 1.5" Deep B2 Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

A Canvas Clearance of 1/2" is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Sustainably Managed Forests

We use lumber grown in the sustainable forests of the Oregon, Washington, and California, where there’s more standing timber today than last century! Our forests purify the air, provide oxygen, and reduce global warming. More trees are needed on this planet, not fewer. Therefore, we use lumber grown in responsibly managed forests, so future generations can benefit from our collective responsible actions today.

20x115 is the Canvas Size Needed for this 14x109 Frame

Please note that you will need a canvas that is at least 6 Inches larger than the actual frame size to ensure proper stretching. This will provide ample material to stretch the canvas and attach it to the back of the frame. If you prefer to attach the canvas from the edge of the stretcher frame, you can reduce the size of your canvas by approximately 3/4" all the way around the frame. This will allow you to paint on the edge of the canvas and hang your artwork without needing a separate picture frame. And, if you ever need to remove the canvas from the frame and re-attach it, you'll have enough material to do that too.

I can paint and draw. I believe this myself and a few other people say that they believe this too. But I'm not certain of whether it's true. ♦ Gustav Klimt

Such introspection from Gustav Klimt, a luminary of the Symbolist movement and a pioneer of Modernism, serves as a testament to the perpetual struggle with self-doubt that even the most acclaimed artists face. Klimt, whose works now stand as some of the most expensive ever sold, was not impervious to the uncertainties that often shroud our perception of self-worth and artistic capability.

This sentiment resonates deeply with many of us. As artists, we often stand at the crossroads of internal conviction and external validation, wrestling with the dichotomy of self-belief and the opinions of others. It's a dance of confidence and hesitation. Yet, it's this very vulnerability, this questioning of one's prowess, that drives us to push boundaries, to refine our skills, and to seek our unique voice in the vast world of art. Knowing that someone as celebrated as Klimt grappled with similar uncertainties offers not just solace but also a reminder. It underscores that questioning our abilities doesn't diminish our talent; rather, it fuels our passion and keeps us grounded in our artistic pursuits.

We curated this insightful quote by Gustav Klimt, and our interpretation thereof; plus we made this portrait in the spirit of creativity. Time to create your own expression!
