True 11:7 Lucky Numbers Proportion - 63x99 Size

The 11:7 aspect ratio creates a distinct horizontal emphasis while still maintaining enough height for vertical elements to play a role. The width invites a natural flow across the canvas, making it perfect for landscapes, narrative scenes, or compositions that stretch laterally but still need that vertical grounding.

The ratio’s off-balance, slightly stretched feel adds tension, making compositions feel dynamic without being overwhelming. The 11:7 proportion encourages exploration of movement and space, allowing subjects to breathe while still offering enough height to create depth and contrast. The fact that it combines lucky numbers, 7 and 11, adds an extra layer of appeal, bringing both an artistic and symbolic charm to the canvas. It’s a format that balances horizontal exploration with just enough verticality to keep the viewer engaged.

Elite™ Professional 1.5" Deep B2 Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

A Canvas Clearance of 1/2" is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Sustainable Forests - A Precious Natural Resource

The air that we breathe depends upon our healthy forests the world over. For this reason, we only use lumber from the sustainable forests of the Pacific Northwest, so we can guarantee that our nation's precious natural timber resources are available for future generations.

Specially Dried and Heat Treated Lumber

We source our wood from a select group of top-tier environmentally conscious lumber mills in the Pacific Northwest. These mills specially dry and heat-treat the lumber to our specifications, resulting in about half the moisture content compared to wood from typical home improvement centers or lumber yards. This process makes the wood stronger, reducing the likelihood of cracking, splitting, or warping. While the wood we use comes at a higher cost, it ensures a more dimensionally stable end product. This stability is crucial for crafting fine professional canvases that support your invaluable art over time.

69x105 is the Canvas Size Needed for this 63x99 Frame

Please note that you will need a canvas that is at least 6 Inches larger than the actual frame size to ensure proper stretching. This will provide ample material to stretch the canvas and attach it to the back of the frame. If you prefer to attach the canvas from the edge of the stretcher frame, you can reduce the size of your canvas by approximately 3/4" all the way around the frame. This will allow you to paint on the edge of the canvas and hang your artwork without needing a separate picture frame. And, if you ever need to remove the canvas from the frame and re-attach it, you'll have enough material to do that too.

When looking at any significant work of art, remember that a more significant one probably has had to be sacrificed. ♦ Paul Klee

A central figure in modern art, Paul Klee had an unparalleled understanding of the artistic process's intricacies. This quote echoes the countless hours of labor, endless revisions, and the myriad ideas that an artist might abandon or transform before settling on a final creation. Klee suggests the depth of commitment, the choices made, and the potential masterpieces that never came to fruition, all for the sake of birthing the piece in front of us.

It's a sentiment many artists can deeply relate to. In our art careers, the paths we choose inevitably mean leaving other paths unexplored. Every canvas we present is a culmination of choices, some of which might have been difficult to make. For every artwork displayed in a gallery or a studio, there might be countless others that were reimagined, overpainted, or remained hidden, never seeing the light of day. Klee's words remind us to value the unseen journey behind every artwork and understand that the creative process often involves sacrifice, prioritization, and the courage to let go. But in that process, we find our voice, our style, and our most authentic self.

We hope to inspire your art with this wonderful quote and our interpretation along with our own one-of-a-kind portrait of Paul Klee..got to love it!
