24x48 Classic Value Smooth Canvas 3/4" Deep #CP-2448

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 24x48 Size

24x48 is one of our popular Domino 2:1 sizes.

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

Masterpiece Classic™ 3/4" Deep Bar • 1/16" Canvas Clearance

Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas, and this Bar has just enough to prevent the unsightly lines during painting when you paint with a light touch, and still maximize the strength of the frame.

• Stretcher Bar Profile produces a 3/4" deep stretched canvas
• 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
• Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

Finger Jointed Wood is not meant for Stretcher Bars

Solid wood makes the most dependable Stretcher Bar, because one homogeneous wood member is going to behave similarly across the entire length of the Bar. Whereas, with finger-jointed wood is made-up of multiple pieces of wood, sometimes on the actual joint itself, presenting multiple points of failure which no one can control.

We only use Solid Wood to build our Stretcher Bars because a solid piece of wood will last indefinitely. When we speak of archival value, it's not just the paint you use and the quality of your canvas and ground, even the wood choices manufacturers add or reduce value to your final painting. The fact is, you don't want problems, and finger joints only increase that risk of the wood falling apart in the future.

The glue used to bind finger joints is a water based adhesive and when that wood is exposed to high humidity environments, particularly with exterior walls, the glue joints can give-up. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Selective Harvesting in our Sustainable Forests

Intelligent selective harvesting of timber is an ecological method to replace the natural occurrences of forest fires and disease and landslides that can devastate forests. This is all part of the process of sustainable forest management to which we subscribe when we choose which lumber we use in our products.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Specially Dried and Heat Treated Lumber

Our wood is handpicked from a curated group of environmentally responsible lumber mills in the Pacific Northwest. By adhering to our precise drying and heat-treatment standards, these mills produce lumber with nearly half the moisture you'd find in common home improvement outlets or lumber yards. This meticulous process not only enhances the wood's strength—minimizing risks of cracks, splits, or bends—but also elevates its dimensional stability. Such quality, despite its premium, is paramount in creating professional canvases designed to uphold the sanctity of your cherished art throughout the years.

The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection. ♦ Michelangelo

Michelangelo, a name synonymous with the pinnacle of Renaissance art, spoke these words not out of modesty, but from a profound recognition of the eternal quest for perfection in artistry. He spent his life sculpting, painting, and creating masterpieces that have, for centuries, been revered as some of the most magnificent achievements of human expression. Yet, in this statement, he elevates the divine, suggesting that even our most exquisite creations can only aspire to reflect a mere semblance of something greater.

For artists, this sentiment speaks to an innate drive to capture the ineffable. We pour our heart, soul, and skill into every brushstroke, every chisel mark, hoping to touch upon that elusive perfection. Yet, just as we feel we're nearing its essence, it remains just beyond our grasp, reminding us of the infinite nature of beauty and inspiration. This chase, though seemingly never-ending, is what fuels our passion and persistence. We're constantly inspired, not discouraged, by the notion that there's always another level of brilliance to achieve, another layer of depth to explore. It's this ever-present chase that defines our path, pushing us to continuously evolve, learn, and create.
