True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 9x18 Size

An intriguing Domino size!

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

3D™ Pro 2.5 Stretcher Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

• Produces a 2.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
• 1.25" wide Stretcher Bar
• All Bars have an exclusive groove on the inside perimeter of the frame to which cross braces and Diamond Corner Braces attach
• Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

The true work of art is born from the artist: a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation. ♦ Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky, often heralded as the pioneer of abstract art, ventured into realms of creativity that were, at the time, uncharted territories. His groundbreaking perspectives were not just about shapes, colors, or techniques; they explored the very soul of the artist and the intangible essence of creativity. For Kandinsky, art was not a mere replication of the external world; it was a deep dive into the internal cosmos, a journey into the mysteries of the self.

Every artist knows that the creative process is multifaceted. It's not just about mastering the medium or technique, but about delving deep within, tapping into emotions, memories, and experiences that often lie dormant. When we create, we are not just translating a vision onto a canvas, but revealing a part of our essence, sharing a fragment of our soul with the world. This profound connection between the artist and their work is what Kandinsky highlights, reminding us that the value of art is not just in its aesthetic appeal but in the depths from which it emerges.

As we face the canvas, we're not merely working with pigments and brushes; we're engaging in a dialogue with our innermost selves. Our creations, thus, become a reflection of our dreams, fears, joys, and sorrows. Kandinsky's perspective challenges us to embrace this mysticism inherent in the artistic process, understanding that true art isn't just about what's visible, but more importantly, about the unseen emotions, thoughts, and energies that breathe life into it.
