8x18 3D Pro Pau Canvas 2-1/2" #DP-0818

True Dynamic Root-5 Proportion - 8x18 Size

This 8x18 is one of our Dynamic Root-5 Rectangle Root-5 Rectangle series.

The Dynamic Root-5 rectangle is an inspiring proportion based on organizing your spatial composition with endless symmetrical divisions. The premise in Jay Hambridge's 1926 book is that the Dynamic Symmetry of individual elements are informed by their relationship to the entire composition. This very special proportion is guided by the square roots of integers and has a storied and historical basis in art.

It involves the use of geometric shapes and patterns in the proportion of the square root of 5 to 1 to create balance and harmony in a composition. This can be achieved by dividing a composition into a grid of squares or rectangles, and then placing elements within the grid in a way that follows the principles of dynamic symmetry. Dynamic symmetry is often used to create a sense of order and structure in a composition, and can be particularly useful for creating compositions that are harmonious and pleasing to the eye.

3D™ Pro 2.5 Stretcher Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

• Produces a 2.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
• 1.25" wide Stretcher Bar
• All Bars have an exclusive groove on the inside perimeter of the frame to which cross braces and Diamond Corner Braces attach
• Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

8x18 2.5" 3D Pro Deep Edge Heavy Duty Strainer Frame Offers Maximum Support!

Forests need People, and People Need Forests

The concept of sustainability presupposes a comprehensive engagement of individuals in the art and science of forest stewardship, both in the present and for the well-being of generations to come. Humanity undoubtedly extracts wood from forests to supplement our needs, but they also play a crucial role in bestowing diligent care upon these ecosystems. This stewardship encompasses not only the responsible harvesting of forest resources but also extends to the safeguarding of clean water sources, the preservation of wildlife and their native habitats, and the mitigation of potential threats like erosion, fires, and diseases that could otherwise lead to untimely degradation of these precious woodlands.

Masterpiece® uses only lumber harvested from responsibly and sustainably managed timberlands.

We have art in order not to die of the truth. ♦ Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche, a philosopher who profoundly impacted the 19th century and beyond, was known for his critiques of traditional European morality and religion. His writings often navigated the treacherous waters of human existence and the complexities of truth. In a world where truths can be overwhelming and often brutal, art becomes our refuge. For many artists, the canvas, the sculpture, or the song becomes a place to both confront and escape reality. It's where we process, reflect, and sometimes find solace from the unyielding truths of existence.

Art offers a transformative experience. It provides a buffer, a space where harsh realities can be molded, reshaped, and represented in ways that are digestible and even beautiful. Through art, we find a way to grapple with truths that might otherwise be too piercing. It grants us the ability to turn pain into beauty, despair into hope. In this way, art becomes not just a mirror to our realities but a balm for our wounds. Nietzsche's insight serves as a poignant reminder that in every stroke, note, or chiseled piece, we artists find a lifeline, ensuring that while we may confront the truth, we are never consumed by it.
