True 3:2 Film Proportion - 12x18 Size
The 3:2 aspect ratio is a very familiar format film, computer screens, and video, and, of course, is an aesthetically appealing proportion for your artistic compositions. Most 35 mm film cameras are based on this exact proportion, so our brains are trained to see images in this same ratio. It is commonly used for landscape photography and artwork, as it allows for a wide, panoramic view of the scene. It can be used to create a sense of balance and harmony in the composition, providing depth and perspective, as the longer sides of the canvas allow for more space to depict the background or foreground elements of the scene.
Even though this proportion is widely used, there are only a handful of commonly available standard canvas sizes in this ratio. There are a whole collection of intriguing (what we call) Lost Sizes, which are uncommon sizes in this common proportion. Unusual canvas sizes add intrigue to your artwork and an additional story to tell about your painting.

There are no animal products that make-up the sizing and the primer for this fine canvas. In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.
Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Primer Pigment
This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.
Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.
Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

One should never meet an artist whose work one admires; the artist is always so much less than his work.
♦ Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's words provide a compelling window into the intricacies of artistic identity. A key figure in the bohemian art scene of Paris during the Belle Époque, Lautrec mingled with countless artists, performers, and enthusiasts. Within these interactions, he recognized a dichotomy: the often vast gulf between the creator and the creation.
In our art careers, we strive to translate our deepest emotions, insights, and visions onto the canvas or into whatever medium we choose. The results can be intense, profound, and sometimes larger than life. Yet, as individuals, we grapple with vulnerabilities, imperfections, and moments of self-doubt. Meeting someone who has touched our souls through their work can sometimes lead to a surprising dissonance. However, it's essential to understand that both the work and its creator have value in their distinct capacities. We must appreciate and recognize that our imperfections and idiosyncrasies often become the catalyst for our most evocative work.
Draw inspiration from the words of wisdom by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, plus our interpretation of its meaning, along with our own rendered portrait of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Now get busy on your own canvas!
