7x14 Monet Pro Muir Canvas 1-1/2" Deep #MA-0714

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 7x14 Size

An intriguing Domino size!

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

Muir™ Acrylic Primed Belgian Linen

Characteristic linen type surface texture. It has a bright white tone.

• 100% Belgian Linen 5 oz.; Primed Weight 12 oz. per square yard
• Medium Weight, Open Weave, Textured Surface
• Double Sized and Double Primed with acid-free archival quality acrylic gesso
• Impenetrable ground prevents oil paint from leaching through and harming the canvas
• For acrylics, oils, alkyds, and water miscible oil paints
• Linen has natural oils that prevent disintegration over time.

Vegan Ground:

There are no animal products that make-up the sizing and the primer for this fine canvas. Historically, traditional canvas grounds have included egg tempura, pigments with cow urine, and of course, rabbit skin glue. In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

• Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
• 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
• Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

7x14 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

• Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
• Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
• Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
• No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 7x14 size frame

Tree Replanting - Essential to Sustainably Managed Forests

Harvesting timber provides humans with an essential natural resource, but replanting trees at a rate higher than a harvest is a key component in humanity's effort to guarantee a healthy forest for the future. Increasing our number of trees is just as essential to our economy, as the harvest itself, which is why we select only timber harvested from responsibly managed forests.

MuseumWrap™ Stretching Technique

With more than 60 years of American engineering, Masterpiece® designs and builds its own proprietary stretching equipment that enables us to produce the finest and most tightly-stretched canvas on the market.

• Drum-tight stretch!
• Up to 50% tighter than other methods
• Balanced tension across the surface
• Uncut folded corners make it possible to remove and re-stretch canvas on the same size frame
• Usually the corner folds are on the long sides

Since its inception in 1965, Masterpiece® has been at the forefront of crafting superior artist canvases in North America. The canvas acts as a canvas for an artist's vision, transforming mere materials into invaluable masterpieces. Elevate your artwork with the right base; after all, its longevity speaks volumes about your brand and legacy.

There is no short cut to development; and there is no ‘modern' temperament which buds spontaneously and without labour in the Bohemia of today. ♦ Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a celebrated figure of the Impressionist movement, witnessed firsthand the seismic shifts in the art world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He lived during a period of innovation and experimentation, as artists sought to capture the rapid changes in society, technology, and urban life. Renoir, known for his lush and vibrant depictions of everyday scenes, understood the challenges and demands of artistic evolution.

His words capture a truth universally acknowledged by artists. The path to mastery and innovation is often laborious and painstaking. The allure of a modern style or a fresh trend might seem tempting, but genuine development demands patience, persistence, and commitment. As artists, we recognize that fleeting trends might offer temporary recognition, but enduring impact comes only from dedication and consistent effort. In an age where instant gratification is often sought, Renoir's wisdom reminds us that true artistry demands time, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to our craft.
