Monet Pro means a 1-1/2" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. See below to learn more about the finest professional quality artist canvas on the market.

This 5x10 is exclusively available from Masterpiece® and part of our Lost Size collection of unusual sizes in the popular 2:1 Domino aspect ratio. We take pride in offering a series of unconventional sizes to challenge and inspire artists in their compositions. Painting on these lesser-known sizes adds a whole new level of creativity to your artwork.

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 5x10 Size

An intriguing Domino size!

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

5x10 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 5x10 size frame

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Forests need People, and People Need Forests

The concept of sustainability presupposes a comprehensive engagement of individuals in the art and science of forest stewardship, both in the present and for the well-being of generations to come. Humanity undoubtedly extracts wood from forests to supplement our needs, but they also play a crucial role in bestowing diligent care upon these ecosystems. This stewardship encompasses not only the responsible harvesting of forest resources but also extends to the safeguarding of clean water sources, the preservation of wildlife and their native habitats, and the mitigation of potential threats like erosion, fires, and diseases that could otherwise lead to untimely degradation of these precious woodlands.

Masterpiece® uses only lumber harvested from responsibly and sustainably managed timberlands.

MuseumWrap™ Stretching Technique

With more than a half a century of American engineering, Masterpiece® designs and builds its own proprietary stretching equipment that enables us to produce the finest and most tightly-stretched canvas on the market.

  • Drum-tight stretch!
  • Up to 50% tighter than other methods
  • Balanced tension across the surface
  • Uncut folded corners make it possible to remove and re-stretch canvas on the same size frame
  • Usually the corner folds are on the long sides

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues but the parent of all others. ♦ Cicero

Cicero's stance on the prominence of gratitude as a virtue underscores a universal truth understood by thinkers throughout the ages. Amidst the political turbulence and intellectual fervor of ancient Rome, Cicero recognized that gratitude served as the cornerstone upon which other virtues were constructed. It was the light that illuminated human interactions, fostering kindness, understanding, and humility.

Artists often encounter challenges, facing critiques, navigating the intricacies of expression, and confronting the vulnerabilities of exposing one's innermost thoughts to the world. Yet, amidst these challenges, it's the sense of gratitude—for the talent, for the opportunities, and even for the critiques—that fuels our resilience. Embracing gratitude allows us to appreciate every brush stroke, every line drawn, and every audience that interacts with our creations. It's this virtue that grounds us, reminding us of our roots, our inspirations, and the myriad of factors that shape our artistic path. As we evolve in our craft, it becomes evident that by fostering gratitude, we inadvertently nurture the myriad other virtues that define our artistic integrity and character.

With a nod to Cicero, we present these words of wisdom and our own custom crafted portrait. Let this fusion stoke your creative fires. Dive into your art!
