Monet™ Pro means a 1-1/2" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. See below to learn more about the finest professional quality artist canvas on the market.
Monterey™ 7oz Acrylic Primed Cotton
An all-around great canvas, extraordinary value, and our top selling canvas surface across all our products. It is our premium quality all-purpose canvas suitable for most all techniques.
- 100% Cotton 7 oz.; Primed Weight 10.5 oz. per square yard
- Medium Weight, Medium Weave, Medium Texture
- Sized and Double Primed with acid-free archival quality acrylic gesso
- Impenetrable ground prevents oil paint from leaching through and harming the canvas
- For acrylics, oils, alkyds, and water miscible oil paints
Vegan Ground:
There are no animal products that make-up the sizing and the primer for this fine canvas. Historically, traditional canvas grounds have included egg tempura, pigments with cow urine, and of course, rabbit skin glue. In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.
Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Primer Pigment
This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.
Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance
1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.
- Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
- 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
- Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest
No Finger Joints!
Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.
A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.
15x17 Monet Pro Keyable Fame
- Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
- Precision machined heavy duty keyable tongue-and-groove Stretcher Bars
- No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides robust support for this 15x17 size
- To increase canvas tension, remove any staples in the corners, then tap-in the included corner keys further into their slots, then re-staple the canvas
Biodiversity in our Forests is the Key to Life as we know it
By using lumber from sustainably managed forests in our products, we can ensure that the forests will continue to thrive and provide valuable resources for years to come. Sustainable forestry practices help to maintain the health and biodiversity of the forest, which benefits not only the environment, but also the local communities and businesses that rely on the forest for their livelihoods.
MuseumWrap™ Stretching Technique
With more than 60 years of American engineering, Masterpiece® designs and builds its own proprietary stretching equipment that enables us to produce the finest and most tightly-stretched canvas on the market.
- Drum-tight stretch!
- Up to 50% tighter than other methods
- Balanced tension across the surface
- Uncut folded corners make it possible to remove and re-stretch canvas on the same size frame
- Usually the corner folds are on the long sides
A canvas is one of the very few products you can buy, and with your precious time, talent, and materials transform it into a work of art that could one day be worth a fortune. Don't skimp on your material choices! Your legacy and your own brand will be judged by how well your artwork stands the test of time.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
♦ Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci, a man of unparalleled genius and the quintessential Renaissance figure, was not only a master of art but also of science, anatomy, and engineering. His notebooks, filled with intricate drawings and keen observations, might seem a contradiction to his proclamation of simplicity. Yet, upon closer examination, one sees a mind striving to uncover the core essence of every subject, to distill complexity into its purest, most understandable form.
For artists, this concept rings especially true. In a world overflowing with stimuli, where every canvas can be a cacophony of color and form, the allure of simplicity becomes evident. It's not about minimalism, but about clarity. As artists, we have the power to convey profound emotions and ideas with just a few brush strokes, proving that sometimes less truly is more. It's in that less, in that refinement and careful selection, where our sophistication shines brightest.
The challenge, of course, is to know when to stop, to recognize when our work has reached that pinnacle of simplicity. Da Vinci's words serve as a reminder for us all: to always seek the heart of the matter, to strip away the unnecessary, and to cherish the beauty that lies in the unadorned truth. After all, in both art and life, it's often the simplest moments that leave the most indelible impressions.
We are passionate about art, so we curated this enlightening quote and provide insight to it's meaning, plus to excite your senses, we included an inimitable portrait we made of Leonardo da Vinci. Now get busy on your own!
