Raw Mono Lake™ Belgian Linen 6.9 oz Unprimed

Fine, supple, delightful linen will produce a more medium-smooth surface. Take control of your art by preparing your own ground on Belgian Linen canvas. Use bare expanses of canvas as part of the painting or simply create the ground exactly ask you like.

  • 100% Belgian Linen 6.9 oz. per square yard
  • Medium Weight, Medium Weave, Medium Texture
  • Raw fabric blocks 92% of the light, which indicates how tight is the weave
  • Warp and Weft: 38x49 yarns per square inch
  • Linen has natural oils that prevent disintegration over time.

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

11x17 Monet Pro Keyable Fame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Precision machined heavy duty keyable tongue-and-groove Stretcher Bars
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides robust support for this 11x17 size
  • To increase canvas tension, remove any staples in the corners, then tap-in the included corner keys further into their slots, then re-staple the canvas

We are at the very end of progress in art, as we are close to the beginning of a new era. ♦ Paul Gauguin

Paul Gauguin's bold declaration reverberates with the cyclical nature of artistic evolution. Art, much like history, has its epochs of peak creativity followed by periods of introspection and reinvention. Gauguin, in his own time, stood at the cusp of one such transformative juncture. As a Post-Impressionist painter, he was part of a revolutionary movement that defied the established norms of the art world.

These moments of transition are both challenging and exhilarating. We find ourselves pushing the boundaries of what's known and venturing into uncharted territories. While it might seem like the zenith of artistic achievement has been reached, it's often just a precursor to a fresh wave of creativity and innovation. Gauguin's own path was emblematic of this. He sought solace and inspiration away from European civilization, immersing himself in the Tahitian culture, thereby paving the way for a fresh, distinctive style that combined the nuances of both worlds.

We can take solace in the knowledge that art is ever-evolving. Just when it feels like we've reached the pinnacle of our creative potential, new horizons beckon. Gauguin's words inspire us to continually seek, evolve, and redefine our artistic expressions. At the crossroads of progress and innovation, we find the birthplace of a new era, teeming with limitless possibilities.

Journey with us as we blend the wisdom and our own artistic representation of Paul Gauguin. May this alliance empower your artistic soul. Begin your masterpiece!
