Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance
1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.
- Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
- 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
- Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest
No Finger Joints!
Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.
A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.
15x18 Monet Pro Keyable Fame
- Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
- Precision machined heavy duty keyable tongue-and-groove Stretcher Bars
- No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides robust support for this 15x18 size
- To increase canvas tension, remove any staples in the corners, then tap-in the included corner keys further into their slots, then re-staple the canvas
Sustainable Forests - A Precious Natural Resource
The air that we breathe depends upon our healthy forests the world over. For this reason, we only use lumber from the sustainable forests of the Pacific Northwest, so we can guarantee that our nation's precious natural timber resources are available for future generations.

I have always been a pencil.
♦ Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
In the bustling milieu of the late 19th-century Montmartre, where bohemians and innovators coalesced, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec distinguished himself not just with his provocative art but also with his profound self-awareness. I have always been a pencil is a deceptively simple assertion, revealing much about Lautrec's perception of himself and his place within the art world. For him, the pencil wasn't just an instrument—it was an extension of his very being.
As we immerse ourselves in our craft, the tools we employ become integral to our expression. They are not just inanimate objects, but vehicles through which our innermost thoughts, feelings, and visions flow. Lautrec's analogy reminds us of the symbiotic relationship between an artist and their medium. In every stroke, shading, or line, there's a piece of us. There's a tool that becomes so innate to our own artistic process that it feels like an extension of our very selves, just as the pencil was for Lautrec. In acknowledging this, we embrace the intimate dance between our souls and the art we produce.
We love fanning the flames of your artistic passion. Immerse yourself in the wisdom of this intriguing quote and context, and enjoy our own unique creation of this portrait of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Paint your heart out!
