Monet™ Pro means a 1-1/2" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. True 3:1 Panorama Proportion - 5x15 Size

This 5x15 Panorama size is popular for cinema and for art.

The 3:1 Panorama a proportion is preferred by many artists who require a super wide compositional format. Of course, this proportion is popularized by photographers and cinematographers, for ultra landscape and wide angled imagery that creates a sense of scope and grandeur in a scene, like cityscapes, ocean and mountain scenes, and scenes with expansive horizons. It is described as a polyomino proportion on the order of 3 or triple-square proportion. There are several common Panorama sizes in this 3:1 aspect ratio that you will recognize, and some are intriguing custom sizes, as well.

Sausalito™ 11.5oz Acrylic Primed Cotton

Our second best selling surface; heavy weight and body with a rugged and paint-gripping surface texture; great for heavy paint applications and impasto.

  • 100% Cotton 11.5 oz.; Primed Weight 14 oz. per square yard
  • Heavy Weight, Medium Weave, Robust Texture
  • Sized and Double Primed with acid-free archival quality acrylic gesso
  • Impenetrable ground prevents oil paint from leaching through and harming the canvas
  • For acrylics, oils, alkyds, and water miscible oil paints

Vegan Ground:

There are no animal products that make-up the sizing and the primer for this fine canvas. Historically, traditional canvas grounds have included egg tempura, pigments with cow urine, and of course, rabbit skin glue. In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

5x15 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 5x15 size frame

Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. ♦ Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau, an American philosopher, writer, and transcendentalist, often found himself engrossed in the natural world, seeking a deeper connection with the environment around him. His Walden experiment, where he lived for over two years in a cabin by Walden Pond, was more than just a retreat—it was a conscious attempt to experience life in its most organic form, away from the clamor of society. For Thoreau, living deliberately meant immersing oneself in the present moment, embracing the sensations, experiences, and lessons that each season presents.

In the realm of art, this sentiment holds significant weight. For artists, we may consider each project, each canvas, as a season. By immersing ourselves fully in the process, drinking in every moment of inspiration, and allowing the natural flow of our creativity to guide us, we find our most authentic expressions. The idea is not to force, but to allow—to let the influences of each experience mold us, shape our work, and bring forth the most genuine representation of our vision.

Embracing each season, whether in life or in our art careers, means honoring the present, cherishing the unique characteristics it offers, and allowing its essence to seep into the core of our being. Thoreau's words remind us to be present, to be authentic, and to celebrate the ever-evolving journey of existence and artistic expression.

Draw inspiration from the words of wisdom by Henry David Thoreau, plus our interpretation of its meaning, along with our own rendered portrait of Henry David Thoreau. Now get busy on your own canvas!
