Raw Torrey Pines™ Belgian Linen 9.6 oz Unprimed

Heavy-weight dense-weave raw unprimed Belgian Linen. Take control of your art by preparing your own ground on Belgian Linen canvas. Use bare expanses of canvas as part of the painting or simply create the ground exactly ask you like.

  • 100% Belgian Linen 9.6 oz. per square yard
  • Heavy Weight, Tight Weave, Medium Texture
  • Raw fabric blocks 94% of the light, which indicates how tight is the weave
  • Warp and Weft: 40x36 yarns per square inch
  • Linen has natural oils that prevent disintegration over time.

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

7x9 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 7x9 size frame

Sustainably Managed Forests

We use lumber grown in the sustainable forests of the Oregon, Washington, and California, where thereÕs more standing timber today than last century! Our forests purify the air, provide oxygen, and reduce global warming. More trees are needed on this planet, not fewer. Therefore, we use lumber grown in responsibly managed forests, so future generations can benefit from our collective responsible actions today.

MuseumWrap™ Stretching Technique

With more than a half a century of American engineering, Masterpiece® designs and builds its own proprietary stretching equipment that enables us to produce the finest and most tightly-stretched canvas on the market.

  • Drum-tight stretch!
  • Up to 50% tighter than other methods
  • Balanced tension across the surface
  • Uncut folded corners make it possible to remove and re-stretch canvas on the same size frame
  • Usually the corner folds are on the long sides

A canvas is one of the very few products you can buy, and with your precious time, talent, and materials transform it into a work of art that could one day be worth a fortune. Don't skimp on your material choices! Your legacy and your own brand will be judged by how well your artwork stands the test of time.

The end of the tragedy is a katharsis (purgation) of pity and fear. ♦ Aristotle

Aristotle, the ancient Greek philosopher who laid the foundation for much of Western thought, deeply studied the nature and impact of dramatic arts, especially the tragedy. In his seminal work, Poetics, he introduced the concept of 'katharsis,' a term that captures the emotional release and purification that a well-crafted tragedy provides its audience.

This observation is particularly salient. When we immerse ourselves in the creation process, whether painting a scene of profound sorrow or sculpting a figure emblematic of despair, our goal is often to evoke strong emotions in those who experience our work. Like the playwrights of ancient Greece, we aim to tap into the universal feelings of pity and fear, drawing them out and allowing our audience to confront and process them. In doing so, we help them achieve their own cathartic release, a cleansing of the soul that transcends mere entertainment.

The power of art, as Aristotle recognized, is its ability to touch the very core of human existence. Through our works, we have the privilege and responsibility to guide our audience on an emotional odyssey, enabling them to emerge on the other side with a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. As artists, this is our unique contribution to the shared human experience.

We've handpicked this quote and our interpretation of it's meaning to inspire your art. And we honor the legacy of Aristotle by creating this one-of-a-kind portrait to tie it all together. Start Painting!
