True Dynamic Root-5 Proportion - 4x9 Size

This 4x9 is one of our Dynamic Root-5 Rectangle Root-5 Rectangle series.

The Dynamic Root-5 rectangle is an inspiring proportion based on organizing your spatial composition with endless symmetrical divisions. The premise in Jay Hambridge's 1926 book is that the Dynamic Symmetry of individual elements are informed by their relationship to the entire composition. This very special proportion is guided by the square roots of integers and has a storied and historical basis in art.

It involves the use of geometric shapes and patterns in the proportion of the square root of 5 to 1 to create balance and harmony in a composition. This can be achieved by dividing a composition into a grid of squares or rectangles, and then placing elements within the grid in a way that follows the principles of dynamic symmetry. Dynamic symmetry is often used to create a sense of order and structure in a composition, and can be particularly useful for creating compositions that are harmonious and pleasing to the eye.

Vincent™ Pro 7/8" Deep Bar • 5/16" Canvas Clearance

5/16" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 7/8" deep stretched canvas
  • 1.5" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

Solid Wood is Archival - Finger Jointed Wood is Not

We only use Solid Wood to build our Stretcher Bars because a solid piece of wood will last indefinitely. When we speak of archival value, it's not just the paint you use and the quality of your canvas and ground, even the wood choices manufacturers make are part of the archival process.

The principal reason manufactures use finger jointed wood is reduce cost, not increase archival value. Wood constantly grows and shrinks when the environment becomes hotter, or colder, or more humid, or more dry. Because finger jointed wood is made-up of multiple and varied pieces of wood, with varying grain patterns and densities, they each absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, which works on the glue joints that hold them together, causing the wood to bow and the joints to eventually fail, and certainly not consistent with increasing the archival value of your artwork frame support.

As a manufacturer, we do our part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality made product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

The good God is in the detail. ♦ Auguste Rodin

The renowned French sculptor, Auguste Rodin understood the profound importance of meticulous attention to detail in the artistic process. Born in Paris in 1840, Rodin's journey to becoming one of the most influential sculptors of his time was filled with dedication and a relentless pursuit of artistic excellence.

His sculptures, such as The Thinker and The Kiss, are celebrated for their intricate details and emotional depth. His belief that divinity resides in the minutiae of art reflects his own artistic philosophy. Rodin's sculptures often captured the subtleties of human expression and form, and he believed that it was these nuances that breathed life into his creations.

As artists, we share in Rodin's reverence for the details. Our brushes, chisels, and pens are our instruments of devotion, allowing us to infuse our work with the essence of our subjects. In every brushstroke and carefully crafted line, we echo Rodin's sentiment that the divine can indeed be found in the meticulous attention to detail. It is through this unwavering commitment that we, too, bring our art to life, ensuring that our creations connect with the world in a profound and meaningful way.
