8.5x11 Vincent Pro Keyable Fame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Precision machined medium duty keyable tongue-and-groove Stretcher Bars
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 16"
  • Frame is very sturdy and provides a solid support for this 8.5x11 size frame
  • To increase canvas tension, remove any staples in the corners, then tap-in the included corner keys further into their slots, then re-staple the canvas

Vincent™ Pro 7/8" Deep Bar • 5/16" Canvas Clearance

5/16" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 7/8" deep stretched canvas
  • 1.5" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

The draftsmen must govern his lines, not be governed by them. ♦ Edgar Degas

Known primarily for his captivating depictions of ballerinas, Edgar Degas racecourse scenes, and intimate portraits, consistently displayed a distinctive blend of classical precision and experimental boldness in his work. It's this very balance that Degas hints at in his assertion about the artist's relationship with the lines they draw. Rather than being strictly bound by technique or established norms, Degas believed in the artist's command over the medium.

The lines on a canvas or sketchbook are more than just traces of graphite or strokes of paint; they are the physical manifestations of an artist's vision, decisions, and emotions. When Degas speaks of governing lines, he urges artists to wield their tools with intent and consciousness, ensuring each mark serves a purpose in the greater composition. It's a call to assert one's agency and not to become a passive participant in the creative process.

However, there's a deeper resonance to this sentiment, especially for us in the world of art. It's a reminder that while techniques, principles, and external expectations can guide our path, they shouldn't dictate it. As artists, we have the privilege and responsibility to shape our work and, by extension, how we engage with the world. Degas's wisdom serves as an enduring testament to the importance of intentionality, encouraging us to lead with purpose in our art and in our lives.

With a nod to Edgar Degas, we present these words of wisdom and our own custom crafted portrait. Let this fusion stoke your creative fires. Dive into your art!
