Vincent Pro means a 7/8" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. Take your artwork to the next level with our exclusive Lost Size collection, starting with this 6x9 canvas. Conceived by Masterpiece® to the quite familiar 3:2 Film proportion, these sizes are perfect for artists seeking something different.

True 3:2 Film Proportion - 6x9 Size

The 3:2 aspect ratio is a very familiar format film, computer screens, and video, and, of course, is an aesthetically appealing proportion for your artistic compositions. Most 35 mm film cameras are based on this exact proportion, so our brains are trained to see images in this same ratio. It is commonly used for landscape photography and artwork, as it allows for a wide, panoramic view of the scene. It can be used to create a sense of balance and harmony in the composition, providing depth and perspective, as the longer sides of the canvas allow for more space to depict the background or foreground elements of the scene.

Even though this proportion is widely used, there are only a handful of commonly available standard canvas sizes in this ratio. There are a whole collection of intriguing (what we call) Lost Sizes, which are uncommon sizes in this common proportion. Unusual canvas sizes add intrigue to your artwork and an additional story to tell about your painting.

Vincent™ Pro 7/8" Deep Bar • 5/16" Canvas Clearance

5/16" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 7/8" deep stretched canvas
  • 1.5" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

Solid Wood is Archival - Finger Jointed Wood is Not

We only use Solid Wood to build our Stretcher Bars because a solid piece of wood will last indefinitely. When we speak of archival value, it's not just the paint you use and the quality of your canvas and ground, even the wood choices manufacturers make are part of the archival process.

The principal reason manufactures use finger jointed wood is reduce cost, not increase archival value. Wood constantly grows and shrinks when the environment becomes hotter, or colder, or more humid, or more dry. Because finger jointed wood is made-up of multiple and varied pieces of wood, with varying grain patterns and densities, they each absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, which works on the glue joints that hold them together, causing the wood to bow and the joints to eventually fail, and certainly not consistent with increasing the archival value of your artwork frame support.

As a manufacturer, we do our part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality made product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Selective Harvesting in our Sustainable Forests

Intelligent selective harvesting of timber is an ecological method to replace the natural occurrences of forest fires and disease and landslides that can devastate forests. This is all part of the process of sustainable forest management to which we subscribe when we choose which lumber we use in our products.

The beginning of everything is in numbers. ♦ Robert Delaunay

Robert Delaunay's life was characterized by an intricate blend of art and science. The interplay between the two fields deeply influenced his works, pushing him to explore the mathematical underpinnings of the universe and its manifestations in art. While many would view numbers and art as diametrically opposed entities, Delaunay found a profound connection, leading him to declare that numbers were the starting point for everything.

Numbers might manifest in the symmetry of a piece, the proportions that make a composition appealing, or the rhythmic patterns that guide our eyes across a canvas. It's in the calculated strokes, the carefully measured pigments, and the geometry of forms and spaces. We may not always consciously think of numbers when we create, but they're inherently present, laying the foundation for our expressions.

Embracing Delaunay's perspective can lead to a richer understanding of our work. By acknowledging the role of numbers, ratios, and patterns, we might discover new pathways to creativity and expression. After all, in the vast universe of art, there's a place for both the abstract and the absolute, and it's the dance between them that often leads to the most captivating masterpieces.

Creativity is everything to us artists, so while you bring canvases to life, we've breathed digital life into a likeness we made of Robert Delaunay, and provide a quote and context to inspire your art. Together, our creations honor the past, present, and future of artistry. Start spreading some paint around your own canvas!
