Vincent Pro means a 7/8" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. If you're looking for a unique size for your next composition, consider the Masterpiece® Lost Size collection, including this 12x15 in the established 5:4 Photography aspect ratio. Push the boundaries of your art with our unconventional canvas sizes in familiar proportions.

True 5:4 Photography Proportion - 12x15 Size

When you actually view this canvas in your hands, it looks just like the little brother to a 16x20, kind of cool!

The 5:4 aspect ratio is common to both art and portrait photography, as it creates a visually pleasing format for the human figure and face. The balanced compositional format can help to create a sense of symmetry and harmony in your artwork. The 5:4 ratio has a familiar "feel", as it was commonly used in early computer monitors. Additionally, you might consider trying some relatively unknown sizes in this same proportion that we call Lost Sizes As an artist, you get the best of both worlds, because you still get to use the same aesthetically appealing 5:4 format and use rare or novel sizes that help make your art stand-out.

  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 16"
  • Frame is very sturdy and provides a solid support for this 12x15 size frame
  • To increase canvas tension, remove any staples in the corners, then tap-in the included corner keys further into their slots, then re-staple the canvas

Vincent™ Pro 7/8" Deep Bar • 5/16" Canvas Clearance

5/16" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 7/8" deep stretched canvas
  • 1.5" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

Sustainably Managed Forests Purify the Air

Our forests purify the air by filtering nearly 40% of the fossil fuel emissions humans create, and are critical to reducing global warming. More trees are needed on this planet, not fewer, for our own healthy human survival. Therefore, we use lumber grown in responsibly managed forests, so future generations can benefit from our responsible actions today.

MuseumWrap™ Stretching Technique

With more than a half a century of American engineering, Masterpiece® designs and builds its own proprietary stretching equipment that enables us to produce the finest and most tightly-stretched canvas on the market.

  • Drum-tight stretch!
  • Up to 50% tighter than other methods
  • Balanced tension across the surface
  • Uncut folded corners make it possible to remove and re-stretch canvas on the same size frame
  • Usually the corner folds are on the long sides

The canvas you select becomes the foundation of your painting and will forever be, so choose your substrates wisely. Savvy art buyers and art enthusiasts place a higher value on artwork made with quality materials because they expect their investment in your art will be a lasting testament to your brand and legacy.

The fact is that there is no such thing as a real representation of an object. ♦ Robert Delaunay

Robert Delaunay, a pioneering force behind Orphism, understood that art isn't just about replicating the world, but interpreting it. The world he navigated, marked by a series of innovations and disruptions, taught him to see beyond the literal. For Delaunay, capturing the essence of a subject went deeper than its physicality—it was about harnessing its spirit, its rhythm, and its energy.

For many, especially in our artistic community, this idea resonates with a shared belief that our creations are expressions of our perceptions, emotions, and experiences. When we put brush to canvas, we're not just depicting an object but conveying our unique relationship with it. Our interpretation, colored by our personal histories and emotions, becomes the art itself. Delaunay's insight invites us to cherish the subjective nature of our work, reminding us that art thrives in the spaces between reality and interpretation.

We've handpicked this quote and our interpretation of it's meaning to inspire your art. And we honor the legacy of Robert Delaunay by creating this one-of-a-kind portrait to tie it all together. Start Painting!
