Vincent™ Pro means a 7/8" deep canvas that is stretched using our MuseumWrap™ back-stapled method with folded corners. Our proprietary stretching process uses pneumatically controlled machines that we built to yield drum-tight tension. True 3:1 Panorama Proportion - 5x15 Size

This 5x15 Panorama size is popular for cinema and for art.

The 3:1 Panorama a proportion is preferred by many artists who require a super wide compositional format. Of course, this proportion is popularized by photographers and cinematographers, for ultra landscape and wide angled imagery that creates a sense of scope and grandeur in a scene, like cityscapes, ocean and mountain scenes, and scenes with expansive horizons. It is described as a polyomino proportion on the order of 3 or triple-square proportion. There are several common Panorama sizes in this 3:1 aspect ratio that you will recognize, and some are intriguing custom sizes, as well.

8x24 • 10x30 • 12x36 • 18x54 • 20x60

Malibu™ Alkyd Oil Primed Belgian Linen

Characteristic linen type surface texture for artists who delight in some surface tooth. It has a light gray tone.

  • 100% Belgian Linen 5 oz.; Primed Weight 12 oz. per square yard
  • Medium Weight, Open Weave, Textured Surface
  • Double Sized and Double Primed with acid-free archival quality alkyd ground
  • Impenetrable ground prevents oil paint from leaching through and harming the canvas
  • For oils, alkyds, and water miscible oil paints
  • Linen has natural oils that prevent disintegration over time.

Vegan Ground:

There are no animal products that make-up the sizing and the primer for this fine canvas. Historically, traditional canvas grounds have included egg tempura, pigments with cow urine, and of course, rabbit skin glue. In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.

Oil paint on an oil primed canvas improves your results

Using an oil prepared canvas for oil painting can produce superior results because the paint and ground are organically similar and create an ideal "chemical bond" where the paint sinks into the ground resulting in a smoother and more even finish. The resulting bond between the paint and canvas is stronger, making the artwork more durable and long-lasting. Additionally, the melding of the two oil-based materials creates an effect called luminosity, where the colors appear to glow from within, and thereby enhances the vibrancy and brightness of the colors, impacting the way light reflects off the colors.

Lightly Wipe an Oil Prepared Canvas with Mineral Spirits

While it is not required, for best results, lightly wipe or flash the oil prepared canvas with mineral spirits before painting to make sure that your surface is completely clean of any dust or contaminants before painting.

Vincent™ Pro 7/8" Deep Bar • 5/16" Canvas Clearance

5/16" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 7/8" deep stretched canvas
  • 1.5" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

No Finger Joints!

Solid Wood is far superior to finger jointed wood, which is many small pieces glued together, each with varying grain densities that absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, expanding and contracting non-uniformly as environmental conditions change, and causing the wood to bow and the finger joints to eventually fail.

A single homogeneous kiln-dried solid wood Stretcher Bar outperforms and outlasts a finger jointed Bar whose sole purpose is to save the manufacturer cost, not contribute to the archival value of artwork intended to last a millennium. As a manufacturer, Masterpiece® does its part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

5x15 Vincent Pro Strainer Frame

  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 16"
  • Frame is very sturdy and provides a solid support for this 5x15 size frame

Money is the seed of money, and the first guinea is sometimes more difficult to acquire than the second million. ♦ Jean-Jacques Rousseau

A pivotal Enlightenment philosopher and composer, Jean-Jacques Rousseau often dissected the complexities of society and human nature in his writings. He witnessed the societal transformation brought about by the burgeoning industrial revolution, watching the balance of power and wealth shift rapidly. Rousseau's observation about the challenge of acquiring the first guinea, juxtaposed with the ease of accumulating subsequent wealth, touches upon the broader theme of inertia and momentum in endeavors.

We recognize a similar pattern in our craft. Breaking into the art world, selling that first piece, or getting recognized can feel like an insurmountable challenge. But once we cross that initial threshold, once the world takes note of our unique voice and vision, opportunities begin to multiply. Just as the first guinea is a symbol of breaking through financial inertia, our early achievements serve as milestones, breaking barriers and setting us on a path of greater fluidity and recognition.

The essence of Rousseau's insight speaks to the broader human experience, emphasizing perseverance, determination, and the importance of the initial steps in any journey. His wisdom encourages us to push through early challenges, recognizing that the rewards often grow exponentially once we've established our foundation. Whether in the world of finance or the realm of art, laying the groundwork with passion and tenacity sets the stage for a cascade of future successes.

Celebrating the creativity in all of us, we've taken a step provide these words of wisdom and to immortalize Jean-Jacques Rousseau through our own unique portrait. Pick up your brush and create!
