10x20 Hardcore Pro Saint-Cloud Plein Air Canvas Panel #HD-1020

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 10x20 Size

10x20 is one of our popular Domino 2:1 sizes.

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

I am trying to do what I have never done – give the impression one has on entering a room: one sees everything and at the same time nothing. ♦ Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt's words illuminate the delicate balance artists often seek to strike, capturing both the essence and the subtlety of a moment. Her desire to depict the simultaneous feeling of overwhelm and specificity when entering a room is a challenge familiar to many who have picked up a brush or palette. Cassatt, known for her mastery in portraying intimate scenes and relationships, was no stranger to the nuances that define our everyday experiences.

When we, as artists, approach our canvases, there's an innate longing to convey not just the tangible but the intangible, the seen and the unseen. This duality is where the magic lies. It reminds us of the broader spectrum of human experience, urging us to look deeper and find the underlying emotions and stories that might otherwise go unnoticed. By striving for such depth in our work, we not only honor the multifaceted nature of life but also invite our audience to engage with art on a more profound level, seeing both everything and nothing all at once.
