10x20 Hardcore Pro Versailles Plein Air Canvas Panel #HL-1020

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 10x20 Size

10x20 is one of our popular Domino 2:1 sizes.

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance for oil priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. ♦ Edgar Degas

When Edgar Degas mused about art, he wasn't just talking about the curve of a ballerina's spine or the soft shadows cast by the gaslights in 19th-century Parisian cafes. No, he was diving into the depths of the artist's psyche. For Degas, art was a conversation, a dialogue between the artist and the observer. And isn't that what many of us, as artists, hope to achieve? We pour our emotions, experiences, and stories onto the canvas, hoping to ignite a spark, a recognition, or a moment of reflection in those who encounter our work. It's a game of whispers, where we seek not to replicate the world as it is, but to offer a new lens, a fresh perspective that might just make someone pause and think, Ah, so that's what it feels like.
