8x16 Hardcore Pro Versailles Plein Air Canvas Panel #HL-0816

True 2:1 Domino Proportion - 8x16 Size

8x16 is one of our popular Domino 2:1 sizes.

The 2:1 aspect ratio, that we call the domino proportion, also offers a unique canvas for artists to play with the perception of space and depth within their compositions. The elongated format allows for the inclusion of foreground, middle ground, and background elements, creating a sense of distance and scale that draws the viewer's eye into the artwork. This aspect ratio has been used by artists throughout history, from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings to Renaissance frescoes to contemporary photography. Its versatility and timelessness make it a classic choice for artists seeking to create dynamic and engaging compositions.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance for oil priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

The story of the painting is the story of an artist's life. ♦ James Whistler

Renowned for his avant-garde approach to art and his mastery in portraying evocative scenes with subtle tonal harmonies, James Whistler perceived art as an intimate reflection of the artist's existence. The chronicle of a painting, in his perspective, was intrinsically linked to the narrative of its creator's life experiences, emotions, and innermost contemplations.

Such a viewpoint holds a mirror to the undeniable bond between an artist and their creation. When we, as artists, pour our soul onto a canvas, every brushstroke becomes a testimony to our joys, sorrows, triumphs, and struggles. Each artwork becomes a chapter, and collectively, these chapters weave together to narrate our personal and artistic evolution.

Whistler's assertion serves as a reminder that our creations are not just tangible entities; they are the embodiments of our life's experiences. By appreciating this intricate connection, we can approach our art with deeper introspection and authenticity, ensuring that each piece we create not only captivates our audience but also remains a genuine reflection of who we are.
