5x7 Hardcore Pro Santa Cruz Plein Air Canvas Panel #HZ-0507

True 7:5 Photography Proportion - 5x7 Size

And 5x7, of course, is one of the most popular sizes ever in both photography and art..ever!

Another widely used proportion in photography is the 7:5 aspect ratio, but is relatively uncommon in art, save for the 5x7 size. It is commonly accepted as a pleasing proportion. Some artists choose this proportion to add visual interest by breaking away from more traditional shaped canvas sizes. There are only a handful of standard canvas sizes in this ratio, but there are a whole collection of (what we call) Lost Sizes in this aspect ratio, which are often unknown sizes that add intrigue to the final composition.

In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

What interests me most is neither still life nor landscape but the human figure. It is that which best permits me to express my almost religious awe towards life. ♦ Nicolas de Staël

For Nicolas de Staël, the human figure became a vessel through which he channeled his profound reverence for existence. While landscapes and still life have their own intrinsic beauty, de Staël's connection with the human form went beyond the superficial. It was a bridge to the essence of life, a mirror reflecting the complexities and wonders of being.

The human figure, in its endless variations and expressions, has long been a focal point for artists. Each contour, shadow, and gesture tells a story, revealing glimpses of the soul beneath. It is through this intimate portrayal that we, as artists, can communicate emotions and thoughts that words often fail to capture. When we engage with the human form in our work, we not only showcase the physical, but also celebrate the spirit, the vitality, and the shared experiences that bind us all.
