True Golden Mean Proportion - 12x19 Size

This 12x19 size is one of our Golden Mean sizes, considered the most pleasing shape to the eye!

The Golden Ratio, also known as the Golden Mean or Divine Proportion, is considered the most aesthetically pleasing proportion to the human eye. Used in art and architecture for thousands of years, countless examples can be found in nature, plant life, galaxies, and the human body. It is often used as a guide to arrange your subjects on the canvas in concert with other Golden Mean shapes like an ellipse, star, triangle, and spiral, resulting in intriguing compositions. Many famous artists, such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Mondrian, Botticelli, Dali, and Seurat, have used this proportion in their art, and many contemporary artists continue to use it exclusively. If you're looking for a challenge or some inspiration, consider using a canvas in the proportion of the Golden Mean to create compositions that come alive in the most intriguing and eye-catching ways!

In today's rapidly advancing world, there are many more choices available for artists who prefer non-animal based products that perform far better than their animal-based predecessors.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance in acrylic priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

There are no hard and fast rules. Every problem, every subject I've been after, has been different from the last. ♦ Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

These words encapsulate the dynamism and uncertainty that characterized the life and artistic endeavors of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Born into aristocracy yet physically handicapped due to a combination of genetics and accidents, he found solace and identity in the world of art. The Montmartre district of Paris, with its bohemian spirit and eclectic inhabitants, became his playground, and he keenly observed and depicted the ever-changing scenes and personalities of its cabarets, theaters, and brothels.

Such a life of constant evolution and diverse experiences informed his belief that there are no set guidelines. The canvas is a reflection of our internal landscapes, molded by personal experiences, emotions, and perceptions. As we navigate the challenges and delights of our path, we realize the futility of a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, embracing the fluidity and uniqueness of each endeavor allows us to truly innovate and express. Lautrec's ethos urges us to remain adaptable, to approach each subject with fresh eyes, and to value the individuality that each project and problem brings.
