True Golden Mean Proportion - 12x19 Size

This 12x19 size is one of our Golden Mean sizes, considered the most pleasing shape to the eye!

The Golden Ratio, also known as the Golden Mean or Divine Proportion, is considered the most aesthetically pleasing proportion to the human eye. Used in art and architecture for thousands of years, countless examples can be found in nature, plant life, galaxies, and the human body. It is often used as a guide to arrange your subjects on the canvas in concert with other Golden Mean shapes like an ellipse, star, triangle, and spiral, resulting in intriguing compositions. Many famous artists, such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Mondrian, Botticelli, Dali, and Seurat, have used this proportion in their art, and many contemporary artists continue to use it exclusively. If you're looking for a challenge or some inspiration, consider using a canvas in the proportion of the Golden Mean to create compositions that come alive in the most intriguing and eye-catching ways!

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) Primer Pigment

This primer contains premium-grade Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) white pigment, renowned for its exceptional performance for oil priming. Its standout feature is its enduring whiteness, coupled with remarkable flexibility that persists over time. In contrast to other pigments such as zinc dioxide, Titanium Dioxide maintains its resilience, preventing brittleness as it ages. This quality ensures that artworks retain their integrity and will stand the test of time.

Our Hardcore™ Pro Pro Canvas Panels are the flattest on the market. They are made using MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is the highest quality engineered wood board on the market. Moisture in the board can cause undesirable results to the panel and your artwork, which is why we size the board with four layers on the front before the canvas is mounted, thereby defending against moisture getting into the board and underneath your artwork.

Canvas Panels should be as flat as possible, otherwise, they don't display well in a frame, and can create spaces between the artwork and the frame. A bowed panel is also a sign of having been impacted by the effect of moisture. Canvas can shrink, even after it is mounted on the board. For this reason, Masterpiece® developed a unique proprietary process that stress-relieves each panel, thereby virtually eliminating the bow that is commonly found in competing panel products. Hardcore™ Pro Canvas Panels provide a stable foundation for your art.

My illustrious lordship, I'll show you what a woman can do. ♦ Artemisia Gentileschi

A pioneering figure in Baroque art, Artemisia Gentileschi was not just a remarkable painter; she was a symbol of resistance against the societal constraints of her time. Born into a world dominated by male artists, she faced skepticism, prejudice, and even personal trauma. Yet, she used her brush to craft a narrative that would defy her detractors and set a new standard in the world of art.

At a time when women artists were often relegated to the background, Gentileschi's bold proclamation was more than just words. It was a declaration of intent, a promise of brilliance. We can imagine the barriers she faced, the doubts cast upon her abilities simply because of her gender. Yet, like many artists, Gentileschi turned these challenges into fuel for her passion. In the strokes of her brush, we see not just her skill, but her determination to rise above and claim her rightful place in the annals of art history.

Her sentiment speaks to all of us who have faced doubt, who have been told we don't belong or can't achieve our dreams. It's a reminder that our work, our passion, is our voice. By channeling our energies and honing our skills, we can break barriers, defy expectations, and demonstrate our worth. For every artist, Gentileschi's words are an inspiring call to action, urging us to persevere, to shine, and to let our work be our most powerful advocate.
