For optimal results, flash the surface with turpentine or mineral spirits, which cleans and prepares the surface for your paints, assuring you have a completely ready-to-paint oil prepared ground. The natural oils in linen contribute to its longevity, preventing disintegration over time. Additionally, the impenetrable ground serves as a barrier, preventing oil paint from seeping through and damaging the canvas.
