Raw Mono Lake™ Belgian Linen 6.9 oz Unprimed

Fine, supple, delightful linen will produce a more medium-smooth surface. Take control of your art by preparing your own ground on Belgian Linen canvas. Use bare expanses of canvas as part of the painting or simply create the ground exactly ask you like.

  • 100% Belgian Linen 6.9 oz. per square yard
  • Medium Weight, Medium Weave, Medium Texture
  • Raw fabric blocks 92% of the light, which indicates how tight is the weave
  • Warp and Weft: 38x49 yarns per square inch
  • Linen has natural oils that prevent disintegration over time.

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

Solid Wood is Archival - Finger Jointed Wood is Not

We only use Solid Wood to build our Stretcher Bars because a solid piece of wood will last indefinitely. When we speak of archival value, it's not just the paint you use and the quality of your canvas and ground, even the wood choices manufacturers make are part of the archival process.

The principal reason manufactures use finger jointed wood is reduce cost, not increase archival value. Wood constantly grows and shrinks when the environment becomes hotter, or colder, or more humid, or more dry. Because finger jointed wood is made-up of multiple and varied pieces of wood, with varying grain patterns and densities, they each absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, which works on the glue joints that hold them together, causing the wood to bow and the joints to eventually fail, and certainly not consistent with increasing the archival value of your artwork frame support.

As a manufacturer, we do our part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality made product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

7x12 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 7x12 size frame

Sustainably Managed Forests Purify the Air

Our forests purify the air by filtering nearly 40% of the fossil fuel emissions humans create, and are critical to reducing global warming. More trees are needed on this planet, not fewer, for our own healthy human survival. Therefore, we use lumber grown in responsibly managed forests, so future generations can benefit from our responsible actions today.

I wanted to suggest by means of a simple nude the awakening of mankind at the dawn of the great day, no longer in its original innocence but already conscious of the sin it has committed. ♦ Paul Gauguin

Paul Gauguin's life was defined by a continuous search for meaning, often exploring the intersections of spirituality, morality, and human nature. This pursuit took him to remote parts of the world, like Tahiti, where he sought purity and a return to simpler ways of living. His artworks frequently played with themes of innocence, societal norms, and humanity's place in the universe.

When Gauguin speaks of using a simple nude to convey the awakening of mankind, he is delving deep into the shared human experience. The nude form, in its raw vulnerability, serves as a canvas for our shared history — our collective joys, sorrows, achievements, and mistakes. As artists, we too grapple with how to convey profound messages using seemingly straightforward subjects or techniques. The challenge lies in capturing the complex tapestry of emotions and histories, much like Gauguin did, reminding us of the transformative power of art and its ability to bridge time, cultures, and experiences.

We are innately drawn to the act of creation. We've channeled this drive to curate this inspiring quote and contex along with our own portrait we created of Paul Gauguin..our tribute to the timeless dance of creativity. Go paint!
