Raw #10 Cotton 14.5 oz Unprimed

  • Very Heavy Weight, Dense Weave, Robust Texture

Monet™ Pro 1.5" Deep Bar • 1/2" Canvas Clearance

1/2" Canvas Clearance is the space between the Bar and the canvas. Generally speaking, more clearance reduces the risk of the canvas touching the wood and creating unsightly lines during painting. Our design provides the optimal clearance so as not to impact your painting, but still leaving enough wood to the maximize strength of the Stretcher Bar.

  • Produces a 1.5" deep stretched canvas (Actual depth is slightly thinner)
  • 1-5/8" wide Stretcher Bar
  • Solid Ponderosa Pine or Fir from the Pacific Northwest

Solid Wood is Archival - Finger Jointed Wood is Not

We only use Solid Wood to build our Stretcher Bars because a solid piece of wood will last indefinitely. When we speak of archival value, it's not just the paint you use and the quality of your canvas and ground, even the wood choices manufacturers make are part of the archival process.

The principal reason manufactures use finger jointed wood is reduce cost, not increase archival value. Wood constantly grows and shrinks when the environment becomes hotter, or colder, or more humid, or more dry. Because finger jointed wood is made-up of multiple and varied pieces of wood, with varying grain patterns and densities, they each absorb and shed moisture at varying rates, which works on the glue joints that hold them together, causing the wood to bow and the joints to eventually fail, and certainly not consistent with increasing the archival value of your artwork frame support.

As a manufacturer, we do our part to conserve as much wood as possible, and still provide a quality made product that will out-perform any other in the marketplace.

9x12 Monet Pro Strainer Frame

  • Drawing depicts the exact frame construction, not the proportion
  • Strainer Bars are used when the short side is under 10" inches
  • Fixed Corner Frame - Not keyable or expandable
  • No cross braces required when the frame length is under 20", but this frame provides very robust and solid support for this 9x12 size frame

What is Sustainable Forestry?

To a forester, the term "sustainable" could mean exercising industry adopted forestry practices to maintain a forest indefinitely. To a logger, the process of proper care for the trees remaining after a harvest. To a landowner, their interest may lie in keeping their forest in the family. And to those of involved in the process of making and using wood-based art supplies, it can mean promoting and supporting an industry dedicated to the preservation of our precious natural resource. We can all do our part to care for our national forests.

One can stand anything except competition. ♦ Nicolas de Staël

With a career that distinguished him as a leading figure in post-war European abstract expressionism, Nicolas de Staël was no stranger to the challenges that come with artistic pursuits. This particular sentiment reveals the universal struggle of artists to remain authentic in the face of external pressures. While competition can drive innovation and growth, it can also cast shadows of self-doubt and lead us to question our unique voice.

Competition, for us, is not merely about achieving commercial success or accolades but about grappling with the internal battles of self-worth and identity. Artistic endeavors are inherently personal, and when we compare our works to others, we risk undermining the unique perspective we bring to the canvas. The very essence of art is its individuality, and competition can sometimes blur those lines, making us question our direction.

De Staël's reflection offers a perspective that transcends the art world. It speaks to the human condition, our innate need for validation, and the challenges of maintaining self-assurance in a world filled with comparisons. In the end, the true measure of our work lies not in how it stacks up against others but in the authenticity of our expression and the depth of connection it fosters with our audience.

We are innately drawn to the act of creation. We've channeled this drive to curate this inspiring quote and contex along with our own portrait we created of Nicolas de Staël..our tribute to the timeless dance of creativity. Go paint!
